Visitors add spark and flair at Tweni tennis club

THE windy month has started ahead of time and the ball wasn’t quite bouncing where one expected it to at Umtentweni Tennis Club last Saturday.
One of the club’s country members, Jenny Sim, made a welcome appearance and was acing many players during the afternoon.
Neil Perry, a regular visitor, being a lefty, also flummoxes many members with his low-slung drives.

Chantelle Donald brought innovative cheese puffs, sausage rolls, cake and milk tart to feed the inner man and all made short work of the tasty treats.
Carol Nash and Julie Skene were welcome visitors on Wednesday and members hope to see them again soon.
Grant Gordon also joined in last Wednesday and his long arms and legs make it difficult to get past him at net and his smashes are almost impossible to return as they tower above all his opponents.
He is inclined to leave his trams open, though.
Lynne Rorich is getting stronger by the day and came down to watch on Saturday. Members hope she will soon be able to get back on to the courts.
Your scribe got the birthdays a bit muddled last week and apologies go to George van der Merwe and Geraldine Lange who celebrated their special days on the 30th and 26th respectively and it wasn’t Raj Naganna’s birthday at all.
Hope you two had a wonderful birthday and that you will enjoy lots of good tennis throughout the year.
Please remember to check the list on the notice board to see whether your subs are up-to-date.
Saturday duty: July 7 – Dan Dimitriu; July 14 – Trish Wood.
