Tian Malherbe makes conversion from prop to kicker as Warriors declaw Jaguars in nine-try rout

The local rugby club is one game closer to winning the league for 2018.

Sometimes rugby games can produce some good humour, like when a front row forward takes the conversions.

What makes it even funnier is if he slots them.

That’s what Riversmead South Coast Warriors prop Tian Malherbe did last Friday night against the Jaguars in Durban.

The Warriors won the game 57-0 and had been in a massively commanding position when Malherbe was thrown the kicking tee.

It reminded some of Ollie le Roux kicking for the Sharks some years ago.

Malherbe knocked over two conversions, much to the delight of his teammates, and is now the only player in the club with a 100 percent kicking record.

He also scored two tries on the night, as did Brandt Fields and Nico Smuts, the latter back from injury and work commitments.

Other tries were scored by Dawie Durrheim, Dylan Kroon (in the area on holiday) and Graeme Bester.

Kroon kicked two conversions and Bester and Fields one each.

Men of the match were Cameron Camp (forwards) and Fields (backs).

The second team beat the Jaguars 13-7 with two tries scored by Jackson Mqadi.

Hendrik Malan kicked one penalty. Men of the match were Sam Nkwentsha (backs) and Nhlanthla Lushaba (forwards).

The Warriors are playing in the Fidelity Security First Division South league this year.
