Classic time for Meyerton golfers at Southbroom Golf Club
The tournament attracted more than 160 golfers from around the country.
THE annual Southbroom Amateur Classic, sponsored by Hibiscus Brokers, has come and gone.
It was held at Southbroom Golf Club over four days (excluding the Wednesday) last week.

There were new winners in Ig Erasmus and Rudie Venter from Meyerton Golf Club.
They carded 189 points to finish eight points ahead of Rob Meydell and Peter van de Walle of Southbroom GC.

It was a great week for Meyerton golfers, with Jan-Hendrik Marais and Jaco Spamers claiming third spot on 179 points on a countout from Dave Donald and Jan Pieneer (Country Club Johannesburg).
Fifth place went to Kevin Smith and Rodger Govender of Jackal Creek on 178 points, on a countout from David Walker (Country Club Johannesburg) and Gordon Slabbert (King David Mowbray).
There was a three-way tie on 177 points, shared by Gerhardus Bothma and Francois Swart (Meyerton GC), past winners Robbie Botha (Fancourt) and Melchior Botha (Stellenbosch), as well as Cyril Botha (Mossel Bay) and Wiehan van Niekerk (Stellenbosch).
Rounding out the top 10 on 176 points were Ettiene Swan and Jacques Kok (Eye of Africa).

Last Wednesday’s competition was won by Dave Page, Bob Carmichael, Geoff Skelton and Graham Volck on 98 points.
Three off the pace were Cyril Botha, Robbie Botha, Melchoir Botha and Wiehan van Niekerk on 95 points.
They were followed by André Steyn, Nic van Deventer, Johan Palm and Ernie Janse on 93 points.
Then on Saturday, top honours went to Gordon Moody and Clive Miller on 45 points.
They were followed by Bob Carmichael and Dave Page on 43 points, as well as Bob Clark and Rob Meydell, and Riaan Croucamp and Johan Wentzel.
