The Paddock Horse Race, now in its second year, is an endurance horse race hosted at the Paddock Farmers’ Club and which draws riders from all over the province.

Some 60 riders are expected to take part in the race, which starts this Saturday (25th) at 6am and ends at about 4pm.

The track loops through and around the surrounding farms in the area.

There will be professional timekeepers and vets involved on the day.

Although it’s a niche sport, the goal is to make it a fun event, open to the public. There will be a kiddies area with a jumping castle.

The club will operate a fully stocked and licensed pub and there will be food vendors selling tasty food on the day.

Looking ahead, the hope is to continue this event and with that momentum, grow it into a tourism opportunity… something like the bike fest but for horses.
