Off the Hook: Wotalot they got!

Catch of the week went to Johannesburg residents who put up a strong fight against a 29.8kg monster musselcracker on board boat Wotalotigot.

FISHING this past week was good, thanks to the clear skies and calm waters.

There were plenty of shad coming out all around the South Coast.

Catch of the week went to Johannesburg residents, Andre de Wet and Dale van Staden who put up a strong fight against a 29.8kg monster musselcracker on board boat Wotalotigot. These fish are known to grow to great sizes, reaching up to some 1.5m in length and weights of up to 35kgs.

Musselcracker feed mainly on hard-shelled sea creatures such as crabs and sea urchins.

Some other fish that made an appearance during the week included kingfish, garrick, Scotsman and tuna.

Young fishermen, Ryan Pellew, with a beautiful Scotsman caught off Park Rynie on boat Stubbs to Sea, skippered by Craig Stubbs.
