Lions show fundraising bite at Sheppie CC

The Lions Club of Port Shepstone annual charity golf day was played at Port Shepstone Country Club recently.

Lions club president Dale McGarry expressed gratitude on behalf of the club to main sponsor, Illovo Sugar, the many other sponsors who contributed so generously and to all the golfers who supported the event.

It was won by Charles Hulley, Rob Calder, Chris Boyce and Terry Kotze on 99 points.

Runners-up on 91 points were Smittie Stieger, Howard Crouch, Ken Morris and a ghost.

Manning the Lions/Curnow KZN 17th hole are Lions Rick Thomson, Dale McGarry, Clayton Curnow, Dirk van Tonder and Denis Meyer.

One of the highlights of the day was the Lions/Curnow KZN stand at the 17th hole where players were treated players to ‘light’ refreshments and plenty of encouragement for the challenging shot at hand.

The next day it was time for the Halfway Ford golf day which was won by Rob Piers and Albert dos Santos on 43 points.

Runners-up on 42 points were Paul Geoffery and Abel Yeeranna, on a countout from Stewart Betts and Terry Kotze.

Last Wednesday’s competition was won on +6 by Stewart Betts, with Mark Smith next on +4.
