Great news for Umtentweni Tennis Club this week is that Dan Dimitriu and his partner, Ian Ackerman were runners-up in the 65-plus men’s doubles at last week’s Interprovincial Veterans Tournament.

Cathy Kirton and her partner won the mixed doubles B team section in the same age group.

Last Saturday saw five courts in action and excitement (or is it tension?) is mounting for the up-coming club championships which will start this Saturday at 1pm, with the men’s singles first round followed by some of the doubles events.

All members who have entered are requested to check the notice-board and the South Coast Herald for their match times or contact Jean Marx at 082 3471738 for their scheduled times throughout the duration of the championships.

Members wish Dave ‘Noise-box’ Whateley a very happy birthday this Saturday (1st) and look forward to hearing his chirping on the courts throughout the coming year.

Many thanks go to those who have been involved in planting the new section of garden, especially the water-carriers and diggers, Neil Perry and Chris Connellan.

Saturday duty: June 1 – Isabeau le Roux; June 8 – Raj Naganna.
