Scottburgh Old Boys Rugby Club back on track
It was extremely pleasing to see the number of players that turned out, and spectators too, however the SOBRC is still noticeably short of both.
After a tumultuous 2018 and off-season, the Scottburgh Old Boys Rugby Club (SOBRC) is back with a bang.
Under the guidance of the Southern KZN Rugby Union, and at a special meeting of the various stakeholders on May 30, Piet Kleinhans was unanimously elected to take over chairmanship of, and to revive, the SOBRC.
His first order of business was to arrange a ‘friendly’ rugby match on Friday, June 7 at the Scottburgh Country Club, against Amangcesha Rugby Club.
Although on extremely short notice, the SOBRC was able to field a full team of 23 players, with many old faces having returned to play for SOBRC, no doubt a result of the new chairmanship.

The match was hard-fought, providing the many spectators with numerous thrills, and the SOBRC eventually ran out 33-10 winners.
Thanks to Amangcesha for making the long journey on a Friday evening. The usual braai and after-match festivities were held at the Scottburgh Country Club long into the night.
It was extremely pleasing to see the number of players that turned out, and spectators too, however the SOBRC is still noticeably short of both.
All players interested in playing are asked to please attend practices on Tuesday and Thursday at the Scottburgh Country Club at 6pm.
For more information please contact the SOBRC vice-chairman Jason ‘Panda’ Mackenzie at 073 018 5574, either by call or WhatsApp.
The next friendly is being arranged, and will be well advertised, and we request all of Scottburgh and surrounds to attend the match and support our SOBRC players and the Scottburgh Country Club.
