Raj and Chantelle provide perfect mix
Next weekend Tweni goes from hosting the youngest players in the area last Friday and Saturday to hosting the oldest highly-ranked veterans in South Africa this Thursday till Saturday.
Club championships at Umtentweni Tennis Club did not come to a conclusion recently, so the last two matches will be played on July 13.
In the mixed doubles, Raj Naganna and Chantelle Donald played a thrilling three setter against Dan Dimitriu and Cathy Kirton, finally emerging as the winners.

In an equally enthralling match in the mixed doubles back-draw final, Colin Barker and Isabeau le Roux narrowly defeated Gerald Bunge and Trish Wood.

The men’s doubles final and men’s singles back-draw final will be played on July 13 at 2pm.
Those who stayed after tennis thoroughly enjoyed a bring-and-braai and thanks go to all who provided salads, garlic bread and dessert and to the guys who got the fire going as well as the washers-up.
What a delight it was to see so many budding juniors playing in the Abingdon Spar Lollipop Pro Tennis Tournament organised by Julia Christiansen and her team.
Yours truly had the privilege of umpiring for the under eight age group and their enthusiasm was wonderful to see.
With more than 60 youngsters at the club, the air was ringing with lovely young voices which we don’t often hear at Tweni.
