Surfers from eight districts will be competing for the top spot and Heather hopes to make her mark by defending her title and possibly reclaiming the Open Women’s Championship title which was won by Zoey Steyn last year.

She says to achieve this “you gotta surf your heart out.”

Heather thanked Johnny Louch and Andre Audibert of Expro who have sponsored her trip to East London.

“Without them, this trip would have not been possible so I am extremely grateful for their support,” she said.

Heather is an eight-time Open Women’s Champion, having won her first South African championship title at Nahoon Reef in 1989.
