It’s back to regular golf at Scottburgh
Big prizes were in store for top golfers in the sponsored Individual Stableford.
After the trials and tribulations of the recent club championships, it was back to the bread and butter betterball Stableford at Scottburgh Golf Club last Wednesday.
Taking advantage of the benign conditions as opposed to Sunday’s weather, Mick Marriot and Geoff Thommasen managed 43 points to secure a 2 point win over John Mills and Gary Jones.
“If only I could have played like that last weekend” was the chorus of the top four, no 2 clubs and no hidden holes either.
Friday’s five pin was well supported with Jarred (Jazzo) Muller making 12 points for a R200 pay cheque. Linda Hall (Bob’s better half) collected R100 for her second placed 10 points and picking up a bag of ‘almost new’ golf balls for last place was Lloyd (Plum) Treherne.
Umthunzi Hotel was the Saturday sponsor for an Individual Stableford with one and two night stays as the main prizes. Barry Kisten, already a previous winner of an overnight stay, doubled up and took the two-nighter. He must like the place!
Deanne Jooste smarting after Wednesday’s performance got the monkey and the Stone off his back and took the overnight stay for his 32 points which counted out last month’s winner Ian Walker. Dave Meredith will not be going as he has the heavy weight of the Stone to carry. Mick Marriot in good form found the hidden holes and as usual Bob Hall picked up a 2 club.
This Wednesday is a betterball Stableford, pick your partner carefully for Saturday as it’s a Combined Stableford and don’t forget the Friday Five pin.
Flyer’s footnote: Good golfing temperament falls between taking it on the chin with a grin and throwing a fit.
