Mini cricketers have a blast

The KFC Mini-Cricket programme returned to the field with a Mega festival which took place across the country last Saturday.

This season, the KFC Mini-Cricket programme returned to the field with a mega festival which took place across the country last Saturday which saw 40 years of mini cricket being played in South Africa.

Southern Natal Cricket Union (SNCU) celebrated this anniversary at Suid-Natal High School, the new home of Southern Natal Cricket.

Thirteen schools took part and the festival catered for the U10 division and each school fielded a boys and girls team. A total of 252 learners took part. The event was well supported by parents and enjoyed the brilliant display of cricket put on by their children.

The Southern Natal Cricket Union applauded the schools that participated and the parents that were present. Kenneth Allison, representing the main sponsor KFC, delivered a very encouraging address to the players, parents and officials.

Nirupa Ramchander, SNCU Mini Cricket convenor, heaped praise on the organising committee for ensuring a fun-filled day. She praised the parents, players and Suid-Natal High for their overwhelming support.

She stated that there will be more festivals in the future.
