Raja Kazi stars as Southern KZN cruise to victory

The charismatic cricketer has been playing some exceptional cricket of late.

The Southern KwaZulu-Natal cricket team played Lindelani in a 50 over Challenge League match at Port Shepstone Country Club last Sunday.

Captain Cody Mortimer won the toss and elected to bat.

Runs were scored freely during the innings but wickets also fell regularly, with the hosts finding themselves at 140 for 7, with plenty of overs left.

Raja Kazi 62* and Gershion Lawrence 68 then had a fantastic partnership of 134 runs to lead SKZN to a very good total of 293 all out.
In reply, Lindelani struggled as Cody Mortimer struck with the first ball of the innings and finished with impressive figures of 4-15 runs from eight overs.

The last three wickets of the innings fell in three balls as Raja finished the match with a hat-trick to restrict Lindelani to 87 all out, giving SKZN a 206 run win.

Aadil Moola, the new manager, was extremely proud of his team and is hopeful they can go from strength to strength during the season.

The Southern KZN union is proud to announce the results of the elections held last Saturday.

The following members have been elected to run the affairs of the union: President – Sivy Kalkapersad, Vice President – Nielesh Sesaih, Treasurer – Ravi Lautan,
Secretary – Jaco Otto, Clubs’ Chairman – Rodney Hall.
Sivy said he was looking forward to a fresh start, with attention being paid to rebuilding, renewal and growth of cricket. He said focus would be on the development of cricket for the youth, women and associates.
