Christmas blast at Umkomaas

There was a lot of fun and festivity on the day.

Four Umkomaas juniors played in the three golf tournaments held on the South Coast last week.

They were Damien McConnell, Bernardis twins Jordan and Rory, and Noah Rudwick.
Damien was the runner-up in the first event at Margate Country Club, as well as third in the nett.

Jordan placed second in the nett and fifth in the strokeplay.

Best dressed fourball were Santa’s Golfing Elves, namely Sabiha Hulley, Mickey Eriksen, Jacques Hulley, and Riek Janse van Rensburg.

The next day, in very wet weather, Damien placed fourth in the strokeplay at Southbroom Golf Club.

The final event was at Port Shepstone where Damien was first in the nett and third in the strokeplay.

Back at Umkomaas, the Ladies’ Christmas Alliance last Saturday saw a big field of 100 players turn up.

It’s the ladies’ annual fundraiser which was well supported by our ladies, playing and not, and all club members.

Best dressed fourball were Santa’s Golfing Elves, namely Sabiha Hulley, Mickey Eriksen, Jacques Hulley, and Riek Janse van Rensburg.

Winners by a large margin, on 90 points, were Wesley van Wyk, Noel Parsonage, Dewald Smit and Allan Eriksen.

Runners-up were brothers Warren and Barrie Taylor, Saga Reddy and Viv Naicker on a very respectable 85 points.

Delicious Christmas treats prizes paid down to 16th place and golfers enjoyed live music and good company.
