Bench built to remember golfer Mot

The day was especially meaningful for his sisters.

The second Mot Moleele Memorial golf day was held at Port Shepstone Country Club recently.

Golfers came together to pay tribute to the late magistrate, who loved his golf almost as much as his family.

His sisters were able to visit, with the day most meaningful to his eldest sister, who had not been to his grave due to ill health and Covid restrictions at the time.

A bench has been built in his honour and placed on the 9th tee box, offering a resting spot after the short, but deceptively steep walk up from the 8th green.

The late Mot’s daughter Khumo, only in Grade 5, handed out the prizes with aplomb and no doubt Mot would have been proud.

Winners on the day were Bulelani Ngilandi and Sbu Ntozakhe on 48 points.

Runners-up were Nqoko and Emmanuel Mseleku on 45 points.

Third place went to Sifiso Manyana and MC Biyela, from Richards Bay, on 44 points.

The overall turnout was very satisfactory and the day a poignant success.

The previous Wednesday’s competition was won by Bruce Holmes on 42 points, followed by Charles Hulley on 39 points and then Bevis Fairbrother on 37 points.
