Second hole-in-one for Kavish

This Saturday is the start of the 2023 Alliance League.

Congratulations to Kavish Seepershad on his second career hole-in-one.

He made the ace last Saturday on the 165m Par 3 7th Hole at Umdoni, while playing Industrial league.
Fellow Umkomaas member Dave Robertson, who was playing in his fourball said, “It was a brilliant shot. The well-struck 7 iron started out 3 metres right of the flag, before its draw had it land +- 2 metres short of the flag, and then we watched it roll in.”

Despite the rather rainy afternoon, 40 committed golfers competed in the Combined Stableford competition last Saturday. Winning on an impressive score of 73 were Ian Reid and George Haupt. Nine shots back were Mike Flack and Claudio Bellato taking second place, one shot ahead of Damian O’Connell and Matthew Griffiths.

Three 2-clubs, by Damien O’Connell, Wally Kent and Mark Bezencon shared the money. Wet conditions meant no-one managed to amass the requisite 10 points on the randomly selected 4 Jackpot holes.
The first installment of the 2023 Blue Tees competition was won by Robbie Mathias on 39 points. Trevor Osborne took second on 37 points, with Ian Reid’s 36 points enough for third. Once again, it seems that the mid-week conditions equate to excellent points across the board, with fourth, fifth, and sixth place achieving 34 points each.

The 2023 Alliance League kicks off this Saturday, February 25, and anyone looking to enter a team, or put themselves forward for inclusion in a team, is encouraged to contact the Pro Shop soonest.
Spring treatment will take place this coming week and as a result, the course was closed on Monday and Tuesday.
