The club championships at Scottburgh Golf Club got off under a crispy morning last Saturday, with the A division players pulling the field along very nicely.
The ladies also participated in their championships.
Leading on day one in the A division was Pete Gilliver with 78 followed by Nivash Mahabeer on 87.

Sunday dawned cool and overcast with the ladies off first.
The ladies prizegiving ceremony was conducted by lady president Mary Eckly and lady captain Mandy Jones.
Winning the A division and lady champion for 2022/23 was Debbie du Toit with an overall score of 196 with runner-up Hayley Gilliver on 202.

In the B division Alex Morris took the title with 201 and runner-up was Linda Hall on 202. Linda had the best Saturday nett with 66 and Sunday nett went to Alex Morris with 65 who won the overall nett score with 137.
Captain Bob Hall conducted the men’s prizegiving. In the A division Pete Gilliver held on to his overnight lead to win with 152 to be crowned club champion with Nivash Mahabeer finishing with 157 as runner-up.
There was an exciting three hole play off in the B division between sometimes golfing partners John Mills and Doc Heera Mahabeer after they both finished on 171. John won on the third hole by one stroke. Best nett went to Stephen Myburgh with 146. In the C division Byron Stander won with a score of 191 followed by Gary Jones on 195, best nett going to Anton Visage with 155.
A great end to a great championships followed by an old fashioned SA braai. Thanks to Graham Brown whose golf has suffered lately as he got the course in absolutely great condition, he also deserves a medal. And to all who helped with scoring and the gathering of prizes, ‘they also serve who stand and wait’.
Flyer’s footnote: I am certain that there has never been a greater addition to the lighter side of life than that supplied by the game of golf.
