Pro fighting beckons for Tyronne

The Tweni local is currently working his way up to professional status.

Tyronne du Toit (30) from Umtentweni will take to the boxing ring for competitive fights in Margate on Saturday, August 5.

He is no stranger to the boxing arena and since starting the sport two years ago, has won two of his three fights so far.

Still an amateur, he is currently working his way up to becoming professional.
The love for boxing came from being in and around combat sports most of his life.

“Boxing was something I wanted to try out to see how I’d fare. I’m enjoying the process and the journey,” he said.
He says he is currently on a tight schedule, where he tries to train six days a week in preparing for a fight.

“I do a mix of gym for weights, fitness and functional movements, along with the boxing itself, alternating them all within the six days,” he said.

Tyronne says he is always anxious before a fight but that nerves are always a good sign.

“I’ve had some up and downs but am feeling ready,” he said.

“When it comes to any sport, whether it’s boxing or swimming, you have to put your all in to get out what you have always wanted to see in yourself. Do it to make yourself proud.”

Local fighters from Box360 Movement in Margate will take on opponents from Revolution Fitness and Silverback at the Exhibition Boxing League event ‘Off the Chain’ at Box360 premises in Margate on August 5.

Hendry Khan will be fighting for the KZN Exhibition Boxing League title on August 5.
