Super support for Secret Swim

Although it started off as a cloudy morning, the many smiles, love and joy shown by all supporters were enough to create a warm environment.

A total of 579 individuals stood united at five secret beach locations throughout the country, including Scottburgh, for the ILoveBoobies Charity Secret Swim last Saturday.
This event was to create breast cancer awareness and allow women of all ages to honour the memories of lost loved ones, celebrate the warriors and support the survivors.

Although it started off as a cloudy morning, the many smiles, love and joy shown by all supporters were enough to create a warm environment.

All of the funds raised from the Secret Swim will go to ILoveBoobies’ breast cancer screening program for underserved South African women with an aim to fund screenings for 1 000 women.

Since 2017, the charity has screened almost 10 000 South African women. This year alone, there were 1 454 women screened, with 67 referred for further medical intervention.

ILoveBoobies’ mobile screening services have expanded across KZN, Western Cape and Gauteng.

“We believe in empowering women with the early detection knowledge and tools they need to take better control of their health,” said Cecil Munch (director at ILoveBoobies).

“By providing free breast cancer screenings and medical diagnostics, we are directly addressing the healthcare gap that exists in some underserved communities.”

The charity’s biggest fundraiser, the Imagine Challenge, is currently running from October 1 to 31 with over 9 000 participants joining virtual running, cycling, swimming and gym challenges.
Proceeds from these events also go towards screenings, and a portion is dedicated to medical referrals and further diagnostic services.
