Seth stars for Challengers

It was a fantastic learning experience for the youngster.

Seth du Plessis enjoyed a more than decent return with the bat and the ball at the Kearsney U11 Cricket Festival recently.

He is part of the Clinton Moodley Cricket Academy in Scottburgh and was on loan to the RC Challengers, based in Port Shepstone, for the event.

Seth’s reputation as a fast bowler has already been established, but he built on it with some dramatic dot-ball bowling to see the Challengers clinch victory over Northlanders on the Friday afternoon.

Unfortunately, it was the only match they would win, but they were competitive in the first four, before suffering two heavy losses on the last day.

Seth made some valuable contributions with the bat, a highlight being 36 off 43 balls against Thomas More. A lowlight was being run out without facing a ball in the opening match.

It’s not the first time this had happened so he will soon learn the value and importance of clear and concise calling.

Overall, it was a fantastic learning experience for the youngster, and he can only go from strength to strength.

Stats:
vs Hillcrest 0 and 2-6 (3)
vs Northlanders DNB and 1-4 (4)
vs Kloof 11* and 0-14 (3)
vs Thomas More 36 and 1-7 (2.2)
vs Westville 0 and 2-19 (4)
vs Warriors 5 and 0-10 (1)
