Injured angler Ian back in action

Fishing is looking good on the South Coast.

It was a close call for local angler Ian Logie while fishing at St Mike’s last Tuesday morning.
Luckily for him, his buddy Jaco Theron was with him, or else the situation could have been serious.

“It was a good morning, and after my first throw, I had a bite. It was something big, which I then lost. A throw later, I was back in action and knew that this was a keeper. As I moved in between the rocks, I lost my footing and slipped. I did not drop my rod, but I knew I was in trouble. I sat on the rock and still landed my fish with Jaco’s assistance,” said Ian.

Ian injured his right knee and was taken to hospital after Jaco called emergency services.
“Over time, the love of the ocean has grown on me. It’s almost like some sort of addiction. I feel alive when I am at sea, but there are dangers, and we need to be careful. Take along a friend, or more importantly, let family and friends know where you are fishing,” he said.

Believe it or not, after a week, Ian is back fishing. True to the saying: ‘You can never keep a fisherman away from fishing’.
Jaco Theron caught a rubber lip at St Mike’s this week, and brothers Junalin and Prelin Moodley caught a snapper and a brusher at the weekend.
