Ugu surfers tear up the waves

The next trial will take place at St Michaels at the end of the month.

The conditions were tough, but this didn’t stop the Ugu Surfriders giving it their best at the first set of trials held at Southbroom main beach recently.

The beach was abuzz and it was great to see the groms shining.

Heat winner Travis Turrell gets lifted by his friends, Okuhle Ngcungama and Fin Herholdt.

Here are the results:
U10 boys: Jono Pearson. U12 boys: Tom Pearson. U12 girls: Skyla Nadauld. U14 boys: Callum Pearson. U16 boys: Travis Turrell. U14-18 girls: Nina Dirkze van Schalkwyk. U18 boys: Tyne van Achterbergh. Novice men: Michael Algie. Masters: Brad Mommsen.

Tom Pearson secured first position in the U12 boys division.

The next trial for masters and juniors will take place at St Michaels on Saturday, May 31, and the third and final trial is on Sunday, June 1.
