Podium finish for Pennington motorcross star Roscoe
Riders battled it out through the forests and coastal trails of Rocky Bay.
Roscoe Saint has made himself and his community proud after achieving third place in this year’s KZN Regional X Country Series – Junior Social category.
The grand finale motocross race was held at Rocky Bay earlier this month, and was an absolute thrill for the 13-year-old of Pennington.
Riders battled it out through the forests and coastal trails of Rocky Bay, making this a memorable day for all.
Roscoe decided to get into motorcross in September last year, and only raced for the first time in February this year. However, he received his very first motorbike at just 5-years-old, and has enjoyed riding on the farm ever since.

He thoroughly enjoys being outdoors, on the farms and trails. And when asked what he enjoys most about the sport, Roscoe said it had to be the speed of racing, as well as the technicality of the different traces he races on.
His family said that he enjoys challenging himself, striving to improve with each race and the competitiveness of racing.
At the Rocky Bay race, Roscoe enjoyed the technical aspects most. And due to the rain, the track was wet and muddy which he also enjoyed as it added to the excitement of the race.
Rocky Bay had a more diverse field of riders and the camaraderie among them was great.
While Roscoe enjoyed the muddy track, he found certain parts challenging and was slipping and sliding, especially as the race progressed and the track became more muddy and ridden on.
Unfortunately as a result, he had a few technical issues with his bike from dirt getting in, which slowed him down on his second lap.
Roscoe also mentioned that he stopped to help a younger female rider who had fallen and couldn’t get her bike up.
He said that helping others was way better than time in the race or where you place, a statement which has made his mum, Kelly, incredibly proud of him as a 13-year-old.
Roscoe is also an avid Red Bull supporter. He looks up to some of the local riders like Ross Cole, who is currently number 1 in KZN in the 85cc category.
