Trail runners tackle Rocky Bay track
With new medium and long courses, athletes enjoyed cool, shaded forest sections on a mostly overcast day.
There were early starts, rolling hills and a race village full of energy at the Rocky Bay Trail Run recently.
Registration lines kicked off early as quick starts across all distances sent a ribbon of runners flowing over the South Coast hills.
Inanda Trail Running Club showed up in numbers, setting the tone from the very first climb.

A long, winding opening ascent tested the legs, but persistence paid off – before long, the trail blazers were already charging back across the finish line.
The race village stayed buzzing as runners streamed in throughout the morning. With brand-new medium and long courses, athletes enjoyed cool, shaded forest sections on a mostly overcast, runnable day.
A lucky few even spotted duiker along the way. For some, it was a first-ever trail run; for others, well beyond their 20th – a reminder of the adventure and community these events create.
Miles were shared with friends, family, and strangers who won’t be strangers for long.

A cooler, windier Rocky Bay kept things interesting, but nothing was blown away – and everyone showed up.
Smiles filled the finish line as runners were welcomed home by Mmeli Dlamini Ndimande, with a few furry companions joining the celebrations.
The KZN Trail Running group thanks various sponsors for making the event a success.
The Rocky Bay Trail brings runnable trails, punchy climbs, shaded forest sections and wide-open views that make runners forget the miles ticking by.
