Sezela cricketers fall short against Legends

The cricketers are enjoying the 30 over format.

Sezela Cricket Club went down by 19 runs in a rain affected match against Legends B last Sunday.

After a rain delayed start the overs were reduced from 30 to 19. Sezela are in Division 2, playing in the Southern KZN 30 Over Cup.

Legends B batted first and made 159-7 in 19 overs.

Ziad top-scored with 53 not out off 25 balls, with support from Fejan 32 (24) and Yusuf Moosa 21 (11).

For Sezela, best of the bowlers were Travis van Niekerk 3-34 (4), Keegan Wallis 2-33 (4) and Donovan Uys 1-20 (4).

In reply, Sezela reached 140-7 in 19 overs.

Top scorers were Matt Loubser 46 (44), Travis van Niekerk 19 (11), Keegan Wallis 17 not out (9) and Julian Rivetti 16 (11).

For Legends, pick of the bowlers were Yusuf Moosa 3-30 (4), Munna 2-20 (4), Hanif 1-20 (4).

There’s never a dull moment in league cricket and this time around it was Keegan who provided the entertainment.

His glasses fell off and he stood on them when he was bowling. He ended up fielding blind but managed to find some Pratley putty and sort of glue them together for his batting!

Only one other match was able to be played, this in Division 3 where Challengers XI beat PayRite by 83 runs, the match taking place at Margate Primary.

Fixtures in Division 1 and 3 have been reworked with Super Giants and Izingolweni respectively unable to field teams for this tournament.

Some exciting matches are coming up as teams battle it out for a spot in the top four to advance to the knockout stage.
