Smash Masters defend 190s tennis title
There was wonderful camaraderie over the four fixtures played at Umtentweni and Uvongo tennis clubs.
Smash Masters have successfully defended their 190s title in the popular Ugu Tennis Association tournament.
It was played over four different Saturdays, two at Umtentweni TC and two at Uvongo TC.

Captain Deanne Purtell-Massyn and Brendan Els were the only Smash Masters to play in all four, with some Springbok-like brilliance in terms of the use of the bench, or Bomb Squad.
This included Renee Purtell, Dunja Moriera and Cheryse Wikstrom (who played in the final) as well as Geoff Borchers, Stef Francesconi and Daniel Francesconi (who played in round one and in the final).
They beat the Salt & Twitters, comprising Martyn and Hanlie Nagtegaal, Richard Short and Sharon van der Schyff, possibly the only unchanged team throughout.

There was some excellent tennis played, despite last Saturday’s wind making things more challenging than usual.
Surf & Volley (David Rush, Herman Ehlers, Katie Weller and Jenny Senneck) took bronze over Dirt Trackers (Colin Barker, Andre Hofman, Cathy Kirton and Claire Laine).
