Kayla, the one to watch

The natural local beauty is making headlines.

AT only 16 years of age, top model Kayla Kuyler from Umtentweni is putting South Africa on the fashion map.

Kayla, popularly known in the modelling world as Kayla K, is featured in  Marie Claire September issue.

In the article titled the  ‘One to watch’, Kayla is featured alongside big-name South African models  Candice Swanepoel, Justin Naude, Natasha Barnard, Justin Hopwood and Katryn Kruger.

The fun-loving teenager said she was sitting in Cape Town airport when she opened the magazine and saw the article. “I was so ecstatic, but I had nobody to share it with but my tea latte,” she said, laughing. ‘It’s massive and I feel so proud and privileged to be featured with these top models.”

The former Suid-Natal High pupil, the latest SA model to grace international runways, has this season walked for the world’s top designer’s including Roberto Cavalli, John Richmond and Prada.

Another huge achievement for Kayla being featured in last week’s  Sunday Times Lifestyle section as one of the five top faces at Mercedes-Benz Cape Town Fashion Week.

Kayla has recently returned from gracing the ramps at this year’s Mercedes-Benz Cape Town and Durban Fashion Weeks. “I felt privileged to model swimwear for leading Durban designer, Dax Martin,” she added.

The local beauty will be jetting off to Germany, Milan and Paris next month. It will be Kayla’s first visit to Germany. “I’m so excited. It will be quite a challenge as I am going to be away for three months,” she said. “I  absolutely love modelling, and I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
