Fans soar with the Eagles

Locals gathered in their numbers despite the miserable weather.

A NUMBER of local music fans gathered on the Palm Kloof river bank last Saturday to sing along to their favourite songs, ‘Hotel California,’ ‘Tequila Sunrise,’ ‘Lying Eyes,’ and ‘Desperado,’ at the ‘Eagles on the River’ show, a tribute to the iconic 70s band, The Eagles.

Judging from the loud screams of applause and cheering at the show, The Eagles’ hits still proved to be much loved. Fresh from Hilton’s Heritage Festival, a group of seven top musicians presented the tribute to the band. The distinctive Eagles’ guitar style was well handled by Barry Thomson and Andy Turrell. They were supported by Shaun Dragt on rhythm guitar, Riaan Jacobz on acoustic guitar, Max Sewell on drums and Jason Andrew on bass. Dawn Selby, the music director, played the keyboards.
