Diwali ‘dazzles’ again

The festival is the biggest and brightest on the Hindu calendar.

DIWALI, the ‘festival of lights’, is the most popular event of the Hindu calendar.

This year’s festival, organised by the Port Shepstone Hindu Cultural Federation, kicked off with a colourful and vibrant float parade through the streets of Port Shepstone’s central business district last Saturday.

The procession started at Shoprite’s parking lot and made its way to the Port Shepstone Civic Centre where entertainers performed songs and dances.

This was followed by a grand Diwali extravaganza at the Marburg Sports Complex.

Audiences were entertained by talented local dancers and, indeed, the highlight of the evening was the firework display.

Diwali is one of the most festive and beautiful times of the year. It is a time filled with light and love, when Hindus all over the world rejoice.
