Three movies you should definitely watch this year … even as repeats

Kayla McKenna (16) of Umtentweni loves movies. Here are three of her favourites for the year 2017 so far.

1. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man Tells No Tales

Even though it’s the fifth movie from Disney to do with this saga, it was great none the less, bringing back beloved characters Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). Disney brought new characters to life as well. The film is family friendly and a good laugh. A great way to relax on your weekend. 7/10

2. Spider-Man: Homecoming

This movie was greatly anticipated and when it hit theatres it certainly didn’t disappoint. With a brand new cast, Tom Holland was chosen for the role of Peter Parker facing up against the villain of this movie, Vulture portrayed by Michael Keaton. The film is action-packed and has enough comedy to last a lifetime. The movie has enough to please people of all ages, and is definitely family friendly. 8/10

3. The Fate of the Furious

This being the eighth instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise, fans where sceptical of how it would play out as actor Paul Walker had died. However, the film was incredible regardless, there always being just enough action to balance out the comedy and family-oriented message.

They brought back the much-loved and adored cast, most of them going back all the way to being in the first film released back in 2001, ‘The Fast And The Furious’. Unsure if there’ll be a ninth one or not, they wrapped up this one pretty well, leaving no unanswered questions. 7/10
