Is albinism the new cool? Here are 3 people who would make you think that
The things that make people different from the others can be their greatest strength.
Albinism is defined as a genetic condition in which a person lacks the gene for producing melanin – the pigment that protects the skin from ultraviolet light from the sun.
Some people living with albinism have been shamed and killed because of their condition. There have been myths as well that have been attached to the condition.
Suddenly everything society said was wrong with people is what is helping people get ahead. Here are three people living with albinism who have proved that there has never been a better time to be yourself.

Sanele Xaba was South Africa’s first international male model living with albinism. Sanele’s international debut made him the face of the Bermuda International Collections 2016 fashion event. He has also taken centre stage in international campaigns for top brands like Adidas and Japanese brand Kapital Clothing.

Thubelihle Mpisi is a young lawyer from the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal who had his big break when he was appointed by Adams& Adams Attorneys as their new commercial law attorney. Though Sanele Xaba has concerns that the media could either be using albinism to shed light on the condition or could be using it as another tool for content, but the aim is to tell other people’s success stories so that people who have gone through the same thing can be inspired and realise that pigmentation cannot stop anyone from working towards their goals.
