Restaurant of the Week: The Lobster Pot

After 51 years, this restaurant has become a South Coast landmark and they still serve up a veritable feast.

One certainly expects to dine out on seafood when visiting the seaside, so The Lobster Pot in Ramsgate is aptly named.

After 51 years, this restaurant has become a South Coast landmark and they still serve up a veritable feast.

Throw in the elegant, intimate and romantic setting and one can’t go wrong.

“Our restaurant has been open for 51 years,” said part-owner Linda Forbes. “It’s actually one of the oldest that is still going.

“I basically grew up in this restaurant, it’s like home,” she smiled.

“My husband, Bruce, and I took it over from my parents about 18 months ago. We love it and get to meet people from all walks of life.”

There is a dinner and dance the first Friday of every month and the Sunday lunch is really popular so be sure to book.

It goes without saying that the most popular dishes on the menu include the lobster platter as well as a platter of 12 large prawns.

Open from 12pm, the kitchen closes at 9pm from Tuesday to Sunday and only opens Mondays in season.
