Patrons of Flavours in the beautiful Lifestyle Centre in Ramsgate, look forward to sampling classic dishes from around the world… and to meeting Waldo, the ‘real owner’ of the restaurant, as Ingrid Formo likes to say.
“We were given Waldo, the African Grey, by a breeder three days before we opened,” says Ingrid. “He had been kicked out of the nest and was only six weeks old, so he basically grew up in the restaurant!”
Ingrid believes that her parrot is probably the most photographed bird on the South Coast and is loved by children and grown ups alike. “Waldo likes to whistle Monty Python’s ‘Always look on the bright side of life’.”
When visiting, allow Ingrid or manager, Michael Angove, to guide you on the specials and mouth-watering dishes on offer, such as the sole served with a lemon and caper butter sauce.
