ST FRANCIS Primary recently invited Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald, to talk to pupils about cancer.

Mr McDonald highlighted the impact of cancer ion families and explained how Khanya Hospice can help by offering free palliative nursing care.

“Cancer does not always mean it's the end of the road, and it can be beaten, especially if it is detected early,” he said.

He added that even though the nursing care was free, hospice still required funds to provide this service to the community.

“We have to buy everything we need and use in patient care, but together we can do it.”

Hospice is not government funded and relies on goodwill and donations from people, all year round.

“People can make a monthly donation or leave us a bequest in their will,” he said.

Khanya Hospice can be contacted at hospice@scottnet.co.za or 083-5978985.
