Strict regulations for KwaNdwalane churches

With the country facing challenging times in terms of Covid-19, church leaders in KwaNdwalane have had to make some difficult decisions.

“Having learned that two of our wards, 21 and 22, both in Murchison, have been identified as Covid-19 hotspots, the KwaNdwalane Accountability Council of Churches has resolved a number of things,” said presiding bishop, Reverend Sfiso Dlamini.

All of these issues have been discussed with Inkosi Sazi Ndwalane, he said.

They are as follows:

– There shall be no services of mass gatherings, like crusades and conferences, during this challenging season within the KwaNdwalane Tribal Authority.

– The church leaders will encourage the congregants who are 60 years and older to stay at home and not attend church services.

– Night vigils will remain suspended.

– Cooking for the public at funerals is discouraged but if necessary, must be done as takeaways.

– The church will work together with herdsmen (izinduna) to ensure that they keep the 100 mark limit and maintain all the precautionary measures at funerals.

– The church will continue to encourage people to have funerals during the week to reduce and control the number of attendees.

– It is advised that funeral services must not take longer than 90 minutes. The proceedings should also be limited to not more than five items.

– Tent skirtings must be opened all around except the front, to allow for proper ventilation.
