Team formed to protect Ugu’s water infrastructure
A joint working committee has been established to deal with and respond to the threat of damage to Ugu District Municipality's water infrastructure from a law enforcement/security perspective.
So far, the involvement of Saps, local law enforcement, and contracted security and non-contracted security, has been secured to address the threats, both proactively and reactively.
Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said it was critical to receive information on any threats or suspicious behavior at and around infrastructure points, from the community.
“We need you to be our eyes and ears,” he said.
With this in mind, community policing forums (CPFs) form an important link in the chain.
Use the Ugu Anti-Fraud and Corruption Hotline to report suspicious behavior or threats related to water infrastructure.
The hotline number is 080 1111 660.
