Month-end drinkers around Abingdon Spar got totally out of hand last weekend and there was a lot of fighting and threats made to customers.

Members of the public reported a rogue unregistered car guard at Tweni beach last Wednesday who was pestering people and demanding money before some could even alight from their vehicles. He had also taken to washing vehicles, which is a violation of the by-laws. The only documentation he had on him was proof of residence.

All car guards should be registered with PSiRA and carry special identification cards. Thanks to Selvan Chetty, Mike Davies, Derrick Morris, Lazer 911 and Law Enforcement members for dealing with this situation.

Tweni has an unknown male begging at Abingdon Road traffic lights and while we all feel sorry for him, he is breaking the by-law, so please do not encourage him by giving him money, if possible, give him a job.

Jenny Jackson had her long waited for operation last Monday at the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital and was back home last Saturday. Jenny is an amazingly strong woman. Jean Dean is back in Tweni from visiting her family in Kloof while undergoing some dental treatment. Frazer and Dr Cilel Smith’s daughter and granddaughter Lea and Indi Snoek are currently visiting from the Netherlands.

Dr Marcel and Glenda Schutgens drove up to King Shaka Airport to meet up and lunch with their youngest son Maurice who flew down from Johannesburg when on route from Botswana to the Netherlands last Tuesday. Parents love the unexpected when it involves seeing family.

Likeable locals Lane and Kelly Allan celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary on March 2. The Skene family had a wonderful celebration for Barbara Hall’s 87th birthday last weekend. Barbara is a legend of her time and all her friends wish her a very happy birthday. Birthday greetings also go to Merle Seaton (March 2), Evelyn Veringa (4th), Yolande Reyneke (6th) and Darrell Hattingh (7th).

All news to Leila.
