Artist gives back to Toti SPCA

The painting portrays a field of poppies, which is a flower associated with remembrance and it is her take on what ‘animal heaven’ looks like.

Passionate about animals and art, former Toti resident, Sian Tudor Jones decided to combine both to assist the Amanzimtoti SPCA over the festive season.

In light of this, the talented individual donated a 1.5m in length and 1m in height painting to the Amanzimtoti SPCA to be raffled off to raise much needed funds to care for the influx of animals that the organisation sees during this time.

Speaking to the SUN, the animal lover said, “December is the worst time for animal shelters as lots of animals are abandoned, abused or injured during this time of the year.  My family and I are huge animal lovers and try to assist out wherever possible. Painting is my passion and joy and I could see no better way to infuse my two passions than by donating this panting. The raffle will generate much-needed funds and I am also going to start up a back a buddy campaign for people to donate money through it. I hope that we can make a difference.  If you want to assist that would be fantastic.  As a nation we all need to stand together to fight against animal cruelty.”

She also believes that the government needs to put in more laws that protect the well being of all animals.  She also encourages more people to volunteer at animal shelters.

 “My daughters Jayd and Robyn and I are advocates for animals who we all need to love, protect and to be their voice.  The painting will be raffled off to raise funds. Everyone can help by buying a ticket to help all animals in distress. Always remember that those who teach the most about humanity, aren’t always humans,” she added.

The sale of raffle tickets will start on Monday, 11 November and will be sold for R15 each or R40 for three.

Toti SPCA’s Michelle Hannan said, “This raffle will assist us greatly, the funds are much needed for December and over the Christmas period.  We do get very busy during December and we taken in many kittens and puppies so any help will be appreciated. A big thank you to Sian who generously donated this painting to us, she is a very talented artist.”
