Burglars stab family – for two cellphones
Three family members and their two dogs were brutally attacked and stabbed on Monday morning in St Winifreds.
A ST Winifreds resident is in ICU and his wife and son are recovering after being stabbed by three intruders in the early hours of Monday morning, 5 August.
According to a family friend of 17 years and fellow resident Natalie Webster, three men entered the Potgieters’ Glen Hathaway residence at about 2.45am on Monday, 5 July. Jenny Potgieter was stabbed, before her son Morne (20) grabbed a baseball bat and hit one of the men. He was then stabbed in the shoulder while scuffing with the intruders.
His father, Dave was stabbed numerous times, including in the kidney area, before he retaliated and stabbed two of the men. “Dave is in ICU as he had fluid build-up in his lung,” said Natalie. “Morne and Jenny were discharged from hospital and are recovering.”
The intruders also stabbed the family’s two Jack Russells. “The older dog that is diabetic and blind, attacked the men and they stabbed him in the side and left him to bleed out. Jenny is devastated. The second one was stabbed in the head and is recovering.”
All the men fled with was two cellphones and possibly Dave’s revolver.
