DUE to intervention from CCPO, a thief was nabbed near Old Main Road, Toti on Thursday, 22 May, after a robbery at a residence.
During the incident, a youngster who was home alone at about noon, was attacked and tied up by two men who ransacked the premises. On releasing himself from his bonds, a tussle ensued between him and the men, before they fled with a few household items.
A description of the men was given to CCPO and SAP members in attendance. CCPO officer, Jason Hewitt and his crewman, Hendrik noticed a man wearing the same clothing described to them, changing into another shirt near Old Main Road. When they stopped and searched the man, clothing and a ring taken from the break-in was found in his possession. He was arrested. Unfortunately, his accomplice escaped.
In a second, unrelated incident, which also occurred last week, a man who had broken into an Oak Avenue home was spotted by a CCPO foot patrolman near Milky Way. The suspicious-looking man was carrying several items and when the patrolman approached him, he had a laptop and modem with him. He dropped the modem, but got away with the laptop.
At the time, CCPO were unaware of the address the items were taken from, however it was later confirmed by the home owner.
The CCPO is making a difference in fighting crime and the organisation urges those not contributing, to sign up and make a difference. Contact the CCPO on 031-903-7037 (office hours).
