Next Saturday, 5 July the men’s drawn four’s are carded to play in the morning and afternoon, so skips ensure that your team is present.

PORT Natal Bowls Association has just announced its squad for 2014/2015, and Amanzimtoti Bowling Club (ABC) is delighted to congratulate Jeanne Alexander, Barbara Beamson, Jane Coetzee, Delysia Mitchley, Doreen Salmond and Julie Sutherland on their selection.
Well done and good bowling in the ensuing season. In the men’s and women’s senior Port Natal singles held last weekend, Ian Crouch reached the quarter finals before being knocked out.
Doreen Salmond has won through to the semi-finals which will be played on Sunday, 6 July, so congratulations and good bowling to Doreen. ABC will be hosting the semi-finals in the morning, followed by the finals in the afternoon so go along and support Doreen, and watch some top class bowling.
There were prizes for everyone when Picardi Bazooka Shellhole held its annual sponsored fund-raising day at the club on Sunday, 29 June, and grateful thanks go out to the nearly 30 local businesses that supported this fun event. The winning bowls team was Andrew Walker, Nicky Stirzaker, Colin Coetzee and Al McGregor. Second place went to Clive Hambley, Andrew Pearce, Stella Erasmus and Cliffie Hole. The 100 boards were won by Stella Erasmus and Lionel; the whisky by P Bird; the wine hamper by Meryl Hambley; the painting by Robin Begouvia from Wentworth club, and Greg Denysschen won ‘the spider’.
In the women’s open singles club competition, Robyn Hutton held the lead for 17 ends, making Jane Coetzee work very hard for her eventual victory. Tokkie De Kock beat Jeanne Alexander in the women’s handicap singles, and in the women’s novice singles, Talla Stephens-Viviers beat Gaythri Ramklass. In the men’s novice singles Mike Pitchers beat Dave McMillan; Ben Venter lost to Phil Perkins and Peter Snyman lost to Jeff van Belkum.
The winners of the mixed 2-4-2 was the team of Colin Coetzee and Maureen van der Poel, with Doug Joubert and Heather Brown in second place. First session was won by Ian and Marion Crouch and the second session was won by Glen Scorgie and Jane Coetzee.
Next Saturday, 5 July the men’s drawn fours are carded to play in the morning and afternoon, so skips are to ensure that their team is present. All other players must make sure they check cardings on the notice board during the week to avoid missing a game. Birthday greeting this week go to Terry Morgan, Denis Couzens, Basil Sansom, Brian Crause and Trevor Dempsey. A speedy recovery is wished for all members who may not be in the best of health, and the club hopes to see you on the greens again soon.
