AMANZIMTOTI Women’s Institute celebrated its 79th birthday and prize-giving on Tuesday, 9 September.
Muriel Hartwig welcomed members, presidents and guests from various women’s institutes.
It has been a sad month, as Melanie Venske and Sue Johnson lost their husbands. The club’s sympathies go to them in every way.
Once again the tables were beautifully decorated in yellow, green and orange, one really felt Spring had arrived directly at the venue. Thanks to all those who helped decorate and all who brought delicious snacks for tea.
Members were pleasantly entertained by line dancers of Poinsettia Park Retirement Village. Some members joined in for a dance and said they did not realise they had two left feet. It was elegant and gracefully danced. Melanie handed each dancer a gift of appreciation.
Congratulations to trophy winners for having the highest marks for competition entries. Judges were handed gifts in appreciation for judging competition entries. Lyn Botha made the party gifts, lovely tissue holder covers and she was also presented with a gift of appreciation from Melanie.
The Toti WI hamper was won by treasurer, Joyce Bush.
Amanzimtoti Women’s Institute meets in the Toti library activities room on the second Tuesday of the month at 9.15am. For further information, call Melanie Venske on 031-903-7461.
