SPCA wraps up festive season fundraisers
The animal organisation's fundraising Christmas wrapping service at Toti malls and shopping centres also yielded fantastic results.
Toti SPCA’s annual Christmas Dinner Fund raised a whopping R25,000, surpassing last year’s record of R18,000, much to the delight of fund co-ordinator, Marlene Prinsloo.
“Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s fund,” she said. “See you all next year.”
The last batch of donations received over Christmas and New Year include a massive R2,000 donated from Jolene Dardagan ‘in loving memory of Cardiff and Kiwi Dardagan’, R500 from Clifford Hole ‘in memory of Gotcha’, an anonymous R100 donation, R300 from J Botha ‘in memory of Jessie, Buddy and Nicci’, R500 from G Greenfell and R200 from Errol Brian ‘in memory of all our doggy friends’.
These donations brought the total to R25,242.75.
The animal organisation’s fundraising Christmas wrapping service at Toti malls and shopping centres also yielded fantastic results.
“Last year it raised R50,193.65 and this year the total was R71,700.37 – an increase of R21,506.72 – all thanks to a wonderfully generous community. On behalf of the committee, manager and staff of Toti SPCA, I would like to thank all those who made this Christmas wrapping season the best yet,” said chairman of Toti SPCA, Alice Clarke.
“We were worried that perhaps this year would not be as good as previous years, but it surpassed even our most optimistic hopes. We greatly appreciate the work and effort that made this possible.
We thank Marlene Prinsloo, who runs the Christmas Dinner Fund for our animals each year and who was delighted that this year’s total surpassed that of last year, and say well done.
To all the volunteers who spent hours wrapping for us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
A very special thanks to the managers of Pick n Pay Arbour, Toys R Us, Checkers, Seadoone and Galleria for inviting us to wrap for you.
We are extremely grateful to you all for giving us this opportunity to raise some much-needed funds for the animals in our care.
To all those who supported our wrapping and donated so generously, we thank you.”
