STAGE two load shedding is in force as of 2pm this afternoon and is expected to last until 10pm.
Technical faults in some units have given rise to the need for load shedding implementation. Eskom confirmed that two more units have been taken off service, in addition to units at Majuba, Duvha Koeberg that went down in the morning. Unit 3 at Kriel power station suffered a boiler tube leak, and unit 4 at Camden has a generator hydrogen leak.
This means power is expected to be constrained for the rest of this week. Eskom has called for people to reduce their electricity consumption to reduce the load on the functioning units. Turn off unnecessary equipment, like geysers, air conditioners and pool pumps.
