Flower power for 21 Club tribute to moms

The next 21 Club luncheon will be on Wednesday, 22 June at noon for 12.30pm at Lords and Legends conference room.

FROM pretty floral outfits and corsages to the multi-coloured blooms on tables, moms everywhere were celebrated at the 12 Club’s May luncheon.

Biological, foster, single and adoptive moms and those who due to circumstances take on the role – grannies, aunts, big sisters and sometimes single dads – were all remembered.

Patricia McCann, a 21 Club member, was the speaker. She and her husband Keith have lived in Amanzimtoti for the past 18 years. They have three sons, two in Australia and one in Ballito, as well as three dearly-loved grandchildren.

Pat has had a variety of business experiences over the years. Currently she is involved in marketing Herbalife products which allow people to choose to change their lifestyles. She also runs fitness programmes to help people improve their quality of life.

Reading, travel and recently, painting, are her passions. She is the president of the Upper South Coast Art Association. Life has thrown Pat some serious challenges and her courage and positive attitude have carried her through. Her dream has always been to be a motivational speaker. Her presentation ‘life’s choices’ gave all much to think about.

Pat reminded members that so much in life is optional and that keeping the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual balance is key when making choices. The choice to be fit, aware, happy and grateful belongs to everyone. Positivity over negativity conquers all and being nice costs nothing. The value of helping a worthy cause or simply sharing a smile cannot be underestimated.

“Put the past behind you”, Pat urges. “Try something new. Step out of your comfort zone and feel the difference. Faith, determination and courage is all we need to make wise choices.”

The club extended sincere condolences to secretary, Golda Smyly, who lost her brother recently. Special mention was made of Maryke Viljoen who was a guest speaker three years ago at the special ‘Mothers are angels on Earth’ May luncheon. A master of chalkboard artistry, with a drawing of a beautiful angel still on the board in the Lords and Legends dining room, she will be remembered with love by 21 Club.

The next 21 Club luncheon will be on Wednesday, 22 June at noon for 12.30pm at Lords and Legends conference room. Members are reminded that confirmation of intention to attend or not and names of guests must be received by Lyn on 082-572-1328 or on 031-903-4026 or Gwyn on 072-223-3009 or on 031-903-3126 no later than Friday, 17 June.
