Over 250 pupils celebrated Youth Day at Seed of Hope Community Development (SOH) in Bhekuwandle on Tuesday, 16 June.

The lively event featured IgniteSA founder and Durban businesswoman, Lynette Ntuli, who shared her personal journey with the youth.

” The grade 7 to 12 pupils heard messages on the theme 'My freedom, my responsibility', encouraging them to view the opportunities of freedom and education in light of their responsibility to make the most of themselves through hard work and excellence,” said SOH CEO, Carl Waldron.

Seed of Hope’s 'Simunye' children’s choir and 'Live out loud' leadership programme choirs entertained the crowd, along with special performances by the Dr Made Senior Primary School choir and local poet Njabulo 'Slem' Phewa.

Local coach and entrepreneur, Siyanda Gumbi, and Nokozo Mkhize, a recent graduate from Seed of Hope’s leadership programme and current law student, also spoke at the event.

“We are incredibly grateful to Woolworths Seadoone Mall for their generous sponsorship of food and beautiful flower bouquets, and to the Chatsworth and Calvary Churches of the Nazarene for supplying cakes and other food. Their partnership made the day a great success,” said Carl.
