Cops arrest 86 people

Stolen property was also recovered, among them three vehicles.

TOTI SAPS made 86 arrests in connection with various crimes between Tuesday, 2 June and Monday, 22 June.

One person was arrested for attempted murder and hijacking; one for drunk driving; 33 for shoplifting; two for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm; one for kidnapping and five for common robbery.

In drug-related crimes, eight people were nabbed for possession of whoonga and four for possession of dagga.

Two were caught in possession of stolen property; four for theft; one for fraud; five for residential housebreaking, one for attempted housebreaking and one for malicious damage to property.

In other crimes, one person was nabbed for rape; three for dealing in liquor; one for overloading; five for breach of peace and two for reckless and negligent driving.

In fishing-related offences, four people were caught for illegal possession of shad and another for fishing without a permit.

Among items recovered were three vehicles; four cellphones; jewellery; two cameras, a Minolta and Samsung and a firearm.

Drugs confiscated include 11 slopes of dagga and 11 straws of whoonga.

A Lumen flashlight; and amplifier; an LG DVD player and a fishing reel were also recovered.
