Six-year-old critical after hit-and-run

Paramedics worked fervently at the scene to stabilise the child.

A six-year-old school girl is fighting for her life after a pedestrian accident along Isipingo Old Main Road in Orient Hills on Wednesday afternoon, 5 August.

“Netcare 911 paramedics were driving along the road when they noticed that the child was lying in the roadway with a crowd gathered around her,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha.

On investigation, it was found that the child was a victim of a hit and run collision and had sustained life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics worked fervently at the scene to stabilise the child and after placing her on a manual ventilator and immobilising her on a trauma board, they transported the critically-wounded child to a nearby hospital for the care she required.
