Amanzimtoti Toastmaster Club holds its first monthly meeting on Saturday, 15 August at 8am at Amanzimtoti Country Club.
“Anyone is welcome to attend as a guest and enjoy the supportive learning environment to increase their communication and leadership skills,” said Theresa Walstra.
Toastmasters is an international, non-profit organisation that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills.
Toastmasters has trained more than four million public speakers since its inception in 1924 and has 313,000 members in 14,650 clubs in 126 countries around the world to date.
As part of both individual member and club growth and achievement, youth communication and speechcraft workshops are held in local communities and at schools throughout the year.
“We provide a supportive and positive learning experience, in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth,” said Theresa.
“I used to run a club in Houghton, Johannesburg many years ago and since moving to Toti last September, I though it would be good to start one here.
Two things you qualify in are comunications and leadership skills, which encourages graduates to start new clubs. One of the nice things about Toastermasters is it is inexpensive.
The Umhlanga club is helping me charter this new club.”
