Two die in high impact head-on crash

Another three injured, one of whom sustained serious injuries

Two people were killed and three others injured when two cars crashed head-on along Rosemead Main Road in Umkomaas this evening (Saturday, 29 August) at about 5.40pm.

Reports from the scene indicate one car crossed into oncoming traffic before hitting another, however exact detail to the cause of the accident will be the subject of a police investigation.

Netcare 911 paramedics, the fire department and provincial services arrived to find the roadway littered with accident debris and the cars’ twisted frames. “The damage was consistent with that of a high impact collision,” said Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha. “The two drivers were still trapped in the wreckage and tragically died due to the extensive injuries that they sustained.”

Three people miraculously escaped from the wreckages, one with serious injuries while the other two sustained minor injuries. Paramedics treated the injured before transporting them to a local hospital.
